The Cenozoic era, also known as the age of mammals began 65 MYA and hasn’t ended yet. In the earlier parts of the Cenozoic era, it was much warmer than it is today. Most of Earth had a tropical climate except for places far away from the equator. A global warming event happened which started a long, cool and dry period. The continents shape looked much like it does today but they were just closer together. Later in the Cenozoic Era, the continents moved into their current positions and haven’t moved since. Marine animals evolved into larger mammals like whales. After that evolution, marine animals started expanding in population. Plant life also started developing and expanding in population. The cenozoic era hasn’t ended yet because there has been no changes in life forms.
